Purpose of the transition

The Electron version explored a single desktop package containing the application runtime and Tor integration. The objective was to reduce setup steps while keeping the existing web-oriented interface and protocol code.

Trust-boundary changes

Moving browser code into Electron introduced a privileged main process, IPC handlers, packaged dependencies and a local update surface. Those additions required stricter separation between rendered content and native capabilities, narrow IPC contracts and explicit handling of bundled binaries.

Status

This architecture was not retained. The project subsequently moved to a native WPF client, and this document remains only as a record of the design tradeoffs considered during the transition.
